Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a bold, coastal expression born from the rugged shores of Hokkaido, Japan. Crafted at the historic Yoichi Distillery, founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934, this whisky reflects his belief that the natural environment of sea air, cold climate, and traditional distilling methods, shapes a spirit’s soul.
Distilled using coal-fired pot stills, a technique rarely seen today, Yoichi delivers a powerful yet refined character. It opens with aromas of smoke, sea salt, and malt sweetness, followed by layers of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and subtle peat. The maritime influence adds a gentle brininess, while the oak aging brings depth and balance. The result is a whisky that is both distinctly Japanese and unmistakably reminiscent of classic Scotch traditions.
